Our 5-day cruise to the Broughton’s, upper Vancouver Island, BC, is about to begin. (See map)
We leave Shelter Bay this coming Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 6AM. With Rod at the reins and Mike riding shotgun we’ll head for the border and a ferry terminal just south of the city of Vancouver. After a 2-hour ferry boat ride to Nanaimo, we’ll drive north up-island to Campbell River where our boat, the Aurora Explorer, will be waiting loaded with freight which we will deliver over the next coming days. Ain’t she pretty!
Exactly where we go depends entirely on the freight. From pictures and videos we’ve seen, it most likely will include groceries for logging camps and the various marine resorts in the area. Fuel, (diesel, gasoline, and propane) is usually on board for delivery where needed. Maybe a Ford pickup or two, some chain, logging cable, or ???
But wait, it gets even better. Road graders, Caterpillar tractors, generators, and explosives for road building are also delivered. Rumored in the ‘hood is our trip will also include sushi and sake for the geisha houses on Lonely Island. Norwegian Cruise Line, top that!!
I’m thinking we’ll want to post daily to this blog but thinking even harder, we most likely will run into limited cellular coverage. So we may have to our post our experiences in batches.
Stay tuned, it's gonna be good.
Mike
Sushi and sake and geishas, oh my ...
ReplyDeletePhotos, gentlemen. Photos!
I echo Vanessa's comment…Geishas?!? This is definitely edgier than the trip my dad originally described….maybe purposefully for Lynn's sake ;-)? Have a great time and great wait to see photos along the way!
